On 18 January 2018, the Embassy of Nepal, Muscat participated in the Muscat Festival in Amerat Park, Muscat through a Nepali stall. H.E. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman inagurated the Nepali stall by lighting the traditional oil lamp.

The Embassy of Nepal, Muscat is participating in Muscat Festival for the first time. In the stall, various Nepali handicrafts such as unique Nepali wooden peacock windows, brass and bronze utensils, Nepali Khukuri, dhaka topi and purses, Nepali tea, Pashmina, Nepali musical instruments like damphu, madal, sarangi etc. along with fascinating photo-frames of Mount Everest, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchre and other cultural heritage sites of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur etc. The visitors in the stall are welcomed through different types of Nepali tea such as green tea, white tea of Himalaya to taste freely.

Two Nepali cultural and folk dances were performed by Nepali community on the first day which mesmerized the visitors.

The Embassy participated in such event with a view to showcase Nepali ethnic culture, traditions and heritage through Nepali handicrafts, pictures to the people of Oman. It is expected to enhance more opportunities to interact with the Omanis and other nationalities and ultimately attract more tourists from Oman & other countries. The participation is expected to enhance socio-economic and diplomatic relations between Nepal and Oman. It is also expected to enhance people to people relations as Nepali community in Oman are volunteering to run the Nepali stall in Muscat Festival.

Muscat Festival is the yearly festival organized by Muscat Municipality with entertainment through fireworks, theatre shows, folklore tales, flame show, African show, air-trampoline shows, acrobatic events, awareness programmes, cartoon characters, contests and recreation programmes and bands for children and adults. Besides this, various embassies including Nepal, USA etc. are participating in the festival. Muscat Festival will run for 24 days starting from 18 January to 10 February 2018 and the Embassy of Nepal will participate for the whole period.
