Kathmandu, Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has said collective efforts were essential to promote tourism in Nepal. Tourism is an effective medium to prop up nation’s economy, he added.

During a programme organized by Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies here today, Chairman Dahal said in the country full of natural resources, construction of physical infrastructures would help boost tourism.
If the atmosphere was created focusing tourists from neighbouring countries, it would propel the economic activities, he argued.

On the occasion, central member of the Nepali Congress, Gagan Thapa, said tourism was one of the major pillars of the nation’s economy, so it warrants attention from all sides.

Chairman of Nepal Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Association, Deepak Mahat, said time has come for the government to formulate a separate policy on rivers. He also drew government’s attention not to approve any company for hydropower license in the rivers in Dhading district.

Moreover, Chairman of Trekking Association of Nepal, Nawaraj Dahal, urged the government to take action against those operating rafting without permission. The places suitable for rafting must not be allowed for hydropower production, he underscored.
