The monsoon flooding that started on Friday, August 12, 2017 has created havoc in the Terai region of Nepal and parts of India including 159 deaths in Nepal. People back home urgently need our support! As of the recent report,1.7 million people, including 680,000 children, have been affected with 352,738 displaced from their homes. More than 185,126 homes have been damaged or destroyed in addition to 1,958 schools, affecting the education of 253,605 children.(Data Source: Multiple Sources: ChurchTimes, HindustanTimes)
Nepal Rising is collaborating with Alliance for Disaster Relief for Terai Floods, a youth initiated citizen-led project organized by youth groups, smaller and larger organizations to co-ordinate, collaborate, and provide relief efforts to flood survivors in the Terai region of Nepal. 50% of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly towards providing relief efforts to flood survivors in Terai. More info on the flood relief can be found on Nepal Rising’s Flood Relief Page at: http://www.nepalrising.org/floodrelief and you can even go to that page to make direct donations. Any donation, small or large matters!
To support relief efforts in the US, we will be donating the remaining 50% of the proceeds collected to Direct Relief or Habitat for Humanity which are two of the most trusted organisations that are already providing relief support on the ground.
Please help us spread the word by sharing this invite. We encourage you to bring your appetite as well as your family and friends and do your part in helping make this world a better place.
